Why are water bills so high?
Factors for rate increases are the cost of water and the cost of infrastructure investment. The components of the water bill include service and quantity charges, wastewater collection charge and a fire service fee. Currently there are two rate structures consisting of the existing Central Marina Community and the annexed Ord Community; which includes The Dunes, Sea Haven and East Garrison being charged disproportionate higher water rates.
I am committed to ensuring the affordability, safety, reliability and sustainability of our local water system, now and for future generations to come.
Litigation should be avoided over cooperation and compromise. Excessive legal expenses could be better spent on mitigating any future rate increases. On-going human resource salaries and benefits are a considerable expense in the budget and therefore must be managed responsibly.
My experience working for the Santa Clara Valley Water District has taught me to work collaboratively with people of various backgrounds and be an advocate when dealing with government bureaucracy. If elected, I will be vigilant to ensure that the MCWD is transparent, accountable and fiscally responsible.
Integrity, experience and dedication will guide my decisions.
Thank you in advance for your support!
